The Bärenschützklamm is currently closed!
The Bärenschützklamm is one of the most beautiful water-bearing rock gorges in Austria. A hike between untamed waterfalls and rugged cliffs is an impressive experience for every hiker. You can hike the Bärenschützklamm in several ways - the shortest tour is 4 hours. The starting point of the circular hike is in Mixnitz, you can also continue to the Teichalm. Impressive photo points and viewing platforms can be found along the way.
ATTENTION: After severe rockfalls in 2020, the Bärenschützklamm will remain closed due to construction work and safety improvements. The gorge is not expected to be open to visitors again until autumn 2024.
The start of the hike through the Bärenschützklamm is Mixnitz. Visitor parking spaces as well as bus parking spaces (Mixnitz train station) are available. From Mixnitz you walk about 1.5 hours to the official gorge entrance (entrance house). Then the Bärenschützklamm starts with the spectacular footbridges, ladders and through the rocks.
The gorge is very demanding, so it is not possible to walk with dogs and small children.

Attention: The Bärenschützklamm is in regular operation opened from May 1st to October 31st, every day when the weather is nice. The gorge is closed in the winter months, entry is prohibited and life-threatening!
