Joanneum Quarter

Graz

The cultural center of the old town.

The Joanneumsviertel in the center of Graz combines art, natural sciences, and literature in a modern unity of historical buildings. Renaissance and Neo-Baroque buildings on Rauber and Neutorgasse are connected by an underground visitor center, its round glass opening becoming the centerpiece of an urban courtyard – an inspiring place away from the hustle and bustle.

The Neue Galerie Graz (new galery) showcases art from the Biedermeier period to the present day, complemented by the BRUSEUM featuring works by Günter Brus. The Naturkundemuseum (natural history museum) presents botany, zoology, and geology in an interactive manner. At the CoSA – Center of Science Activities, playful approaches to science take center stage.

The Steiermärkische Landesbibliothek (state library of styria) is also part of the quarter. A museum shop, a café, and barrier-free access make the cultural ensemble a place for all the senses.

A fascinating experience in the midst of the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town of Graz – ideal for anyone wishing to experience art, knowledge, and urban atmosphere in a unique way.
