Neue Galerie Graz and BRUSEUM

Graz

Art from the 19th century to the present.

The Neue Galerie Graz (new galery) is one of the most significant museums for modern and contemporary art in Graz and is part of the renowned Universalmuseum Joanneum. The collection comprises over 70,000 works by Austrian and international artists from the 19th century to the present day. Since 2011, the gallery has been located in the spaciously renovated museum building in the Joanneumsviertel, featuring more than 2000 m² of exhibition space.

As a center for avant-garde art, the Neue Galerie has long collected and exhibited art movements – including Biedermeier, realism, Art Nouveau, classical modernism, and contemporary Austrian art, Viennese Actionism, media and conceptual art. Especially noteworthy is the BRUSEUM, a dedicated exhibition area focusing on the life and work of the Styrian action artist Günter Brus, exploring his significance for contemporary art in depth.

The presentation combines the historic architecture of the Palais Herberstein with modern exhibition architecture. Barrier-free access, audio guides, information in simple language, and special offerings for people with visual or hearing impairments make the gallery accessible to a wide audience.
