Pöllauberg - Dreihöf - Röstenbauer fork in the road
  • Starting from the Pöllauberg pilgrimage church, then past the Annakirche church across the main square, head north towards the entrance to the village until you reach the crossroads at the chapel.
  • Keep slightly to the right there and walk approx. 200 m to the next crossroads with the sign "Hartberg" and continue straight uphill.
  • Stay on the L 431, the Pöllaubergstraße, for approx. 200 m, then follow the signpost with a rest area and turn right into the forest. At first the path is relatively steep through the forest, then briefly along the edge of the forest and uphill again through the forest to the junction with the main road.
  • Cross the road and walk along the Schmalzgruberweg past two wayside shrines to the next signpost, then follow the red-white-red markings no. 942 to the right.

Fork Röstenbauer - fork 942 - Masenberg

  • Continue uphill on the marked red-white-red hiking trail no. 942 until you reach a small wayside shrine.
  • Once you reach it, take the forest path on the left to the next very clear signpost with a station board for the forest nature trail.
  • Turn left onto the Lüßwaldsattel and right onto our destination for today, the Masenberg.
  • Follow the right-hand hiking trail with yellow dots no. 942, a somewhat steeper forest path, along the meadow until you reach a very beautiful hunting lodge with a rest stop (Schmalzgruber).
  • From here, the trail leads through a high forest, past another small hut and up the Masenberg to the Glückskapelle chapel.
