We only hike on trail no. 740, the path is clear.
For the last stretch from Schusserlbrunn up to the summit, sure-footedness is required - and appropriate footwear too!

Start: “Zirbisegger” car park, Breitenau am Hochlantsch
- We start directly at the parking lot, just before the farm entrance the sign shows “Schüsserlbrunn/Hochlantsch, path no. 740” to the right.
- Along the farm path we pass a small pond and then across a meadow.
- Now the quite steep climb begins, always on path no. We climb 740 to Schusserlbrunn, the last few meters along a secured path.
- We now go up 198 steps to the GH Steirischer Jockl, where we can enjoy the great view over the Breitenau, the Rennfeld and the mountains of Hochsteiermark from the terrace.
- From the terrace we climb the few steps to the entrance to the hiking trail.
- Still on “path no. 740, Hochlantsch/Teichalm” we are now climbing in high alpine terrain, partly insured, up to the summit cross. From here in the east we can see the Teichalm with the lake, the Osser and the Sattelberge, and in the north we can see the mountain range along the Breitenau.
From here the path no. 740 further to the Teichalm, the path leads mainly through the forest, but is quite easy to walk. To return to the parking lot, please order a SAM shared taxi to the “Teichalm/Teichwirt, WZ3424” station in good time for a trip to the “Zirbisegger parking lot, station BM3630”.
- Return to the parking lot on the same path no. 740, Schusserlbrunn or Breitenau”. Please be careful when it rains, the wet stones can be very slippery.
