Detailed information on how to get here can be found here.
  • We start the hike at the former train station in Birkfeld and walk along the sidewalk past the petrol station up the “Dechantleitenweg” towards the center of Birkfeld
  • From the lower main square straight ahead to the upper main square, past the Mariensäule column up towards Bergasse, keep left after the pharmacy to the Borg and come to Birkengasse, which we walk along and past the sports field
  • Afterwards, the Gh. Fidlschuster (refreshment stop) is on the right and Schokoladen Felber on the left
  • In front of us is now the tennis hall (sports café), at the protective path we cross Gasener Straße and walk along the sidewalk of the road past Lieb Markt and Billa
  • After approx. 200 m we leave the road and turn right onto the forest path
  • We descend through the forest to the bridge over the Gasenbach, we turn left after the bridge and then see the Sallegger sawmill on our left
  • We continue along the road for approx. 500 m, then a small path leads us right into the forest which we follow uphill and after approx. 200 m we reach St. Georgen, where we can stop for refreshments at the Grünbichler inn.
  • Strengthened, we hike back along the same path to the starting point
In Birkfeld there are a number of excursion destinations, such as the sound tunnel or the Felber chocolate factory, which can be excellently combined with a hike.
