Tour through Straden (Straden Rundgang)

Discover the history of Straden and immerse yourself in a bygone era. You can expect 8 display boards that offer insight into the past!
Along the circular route you will find 8 stations with themes related to the history of Straden. As the latest excavations prove, there was around 3000 BC on the Stradener Berg a hill-top settlement. A few burial mounds around Straden indicate a dense settlement in the provincial Roman period (15 BC-476 AD). In the Middle Ages, Straden was a center of colonization progressing eastward. The parish covered more than 300 km² until the regulation under Emperor Joseph II. The large crowds of people at the numerous church festivals made Straden an important market and place of pilgrimage.

More information

Detailed information on how to get there can be found here.
The Straden tour starts at the parking place opposite the Raiffeisenbank Straden. From here we follow the path up the sidewalk in the direction of Himmelsberg. Before we reach the Himmelsberg we find the first information boards on our left. Here you can learn about the prehistoric development of the region. The path leads us further up - past the pizzeria we reach the Himmelsberg. Here the path divides - once to the De Merin grocery store, next to the Sebastiani Church - and once to the gallery in the church wall "Straden once and now" and next to the parish church and Sebastiani Church on the 'Kirchberg/Himmelsberg/Burgberg' from Straden.
Make a stop at the DeMerin
