By car:Coming from Graz:

A9 Phyrnautobahn north, then S35 Brucker Schnellstraße and S6 Semmering Schnellstraße to Kapfenberg exit, then on the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 49 km north (signpost).

Alternative: S6 Semmeringschnellstraße to exit St. Marein and then over the Pogusch to Turnau and from Au on the B20 to Mariazell.

Coming from Salzburg: Take the A1 Westautobahn to the Ybbs exit, then the B25 to Scheibbs, from there two options:Either the B28 via Wastl am Wald to the B20, then via Annaberg and Josefsberg or the B25 on to Grubberg and then the B71 via the newly expanded Zellerrain

Coming from Vienna: Take the A1 Westautobahn to the St. Pölten Süd exit, then the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 76 km south, either via Annaberg and Josefsberg or in Freiland turn left from the B20 onto the B21 and continue via Hohenberg and St. Aegyd through the Halltal valley to Mariazell (sufficiently signposted).

Alternative: Südautobahn A2 and S6 Semmering Schnellstraße to Mürzzuschlag, then via Neuberg and Mürzsteg on the B21 to Mariazell.

We start at the main square and walk past the office of the tourist association on the right until we reach the One World Shop. Here we turn left and walk up the Schießstattgasse until we come to the junction Viktor Lang Gasse. Continue straight along path 694 and a little later turn right into the forest. Past the pavilion of the Forest Education Center, we hike part of the way along the toboggan run and below the lift supports to the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe.

Coming from Graz: Take the ÖBB from Graz main train station to Bruck/Mur, then change to MVG bus line 172.

Coming from Salzburg: ÖBB or Westbahn to St. Pölten, then change to Mariazellerbahn

Coming from Vienna:

  • Option 1: Postbus from Vienna main station/bus station to Mariazell
  • Option 2: ÖBB Westbahnhof to St. Pölten, then change to the Mariazell Railway

In the municipality of Mariazell there is an area-wide chargeable short term parking zone. this is valid in the time from Monday to Sunday from 09.00 o'clock to 16.00 o'clock. The tariff in the place is the following: for each half hour € 0,60 (maximum parking duration 180 minutes!).

For the remaining parking lots the following regulations apply:

P1 - parking lot at the SOCAR gas station: chargeable from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., cars € 4.50 per day, buses/trucks € 20.00 per day,Tel.: 03882/2547-12

P2 - parking garage Mariazell:  

  • Car upper deck: obligatory fee 9 - 16 o'clock, 1st - 5th hour € 0,70 per 30 minutes, daily maximum € 7,00 per 24 hours   
  • Underground car park: obligatory charges 0 - 24 o'clock, 1st - 5th hour € 0,70 per 30 minutes, daily maximum € 7,00 per 24 hours   
  • BUS upper deck: obligatory charge 9 - 16 o'clock, 1st hour € 8,00, 2nd - 5th hour € 2,00 per 30 minutes daily maximum € 24,00, minimum € 8,00 (1 hour)

Parking at the post office: chargeable from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., tariff: half hour € 0,60, daily tariff € 8,40

Parking lot at the erLEBZELTEREI: chargeable from 9 - 16 o'clock, tariff: half hour € 0,60, daily tariff € 8,40

P3 - parking lot at the former Höhn company: chargeable from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., tariff: half hour € 0,50, from 5th hour free, daily tariff € 5,00

P4 - parking lot near the fire department: free of charge

P5 - parking lot near the former indoor swimming pool: fee required from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., half hour € 0,50, from 5th hour free, daily rate € 5,00

Parking near the former indoor swimming pool: chargeable from 9 am - 4 pm, half hour € 0,50, from 5th hour free, daily rate € 5,00

P7 (Bürgeralpe) - (next to the tennis court): chargeable from 9 - 16 o'clock, tariff: half hour € 0,60, daily tariff € 8,40

Parking lot at the Nordlift in St. Sebastian: suitable for buses (only for guests of the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe) - free of charge 

There are enough parking ticket machines at your disposal - Attention: no change possibility - please have small change ready!

All guests staying at a business that does not have a parking lot can park for free at P3 and P5 with the guest card.

For all bus drivers: the traffic guidance system allows you to drive your bus from Wiener Straße or Wiener Neustädterstraße to the main square - here you can let your guests off in the bus bay and later pick them up again on the same way from the main square. An access from the Grazer Straße is not possible. 

You can park your car with a valid disabled pass in the following places:   

  • directly in front of the Basilica (3 parking spaces)   
  • in front of the pharmacy (1 parking space)   
  • opposite the Lebzelterei Mariazellerhof, Grazer Straße 10 (1 parking space)
  • parking lot at the post office (2 parking spaces) 
  • Parking lot above parking deck P2 (2 parking spaces)   
  • P7-Bürgeralpe (2 parking spaces)
