Zetzweg on "The Hand“, Thannhausen

The hike starts at the "Die Hand" parking lot/junction and leads to the Hoher Zetz.
In former times, a wooden hand stood as a signpost at the junction from Poniglerstraße to Gschnaidt/Anger - in the vernacular, this place is therefore called "The Hand".

From the Schlosstaverne in Thannhausen, the trail is marked consecutively with no. 11.

Route planner

  • The tour starts at the "die Hand" parking lot on Poniglstraße, then we follow the marked path through the forest until we reach a farm.
  • We walk through the farm, then cross the road and continue on the marked path through the forest.
  • We reach a road again and follow it past a farm until we reach the forest again after a short steep meadow section.
  • Along the forest path, we pass a self-catering hut at a bend in a forest road.
  • We continue uphill along the forest road and soon reach the entrance to the marked forest path on the left-hand side of the road.
  • After a short time, this leads us back to a forest road, which we follow until we reach a bend with a cross. After this cross, we then follow a steep forest path up to the left. At a crossroads in the forest, we keep right until we reach the summit cross.
  • Another option for the ascent would be to cross the forest road and continue along the marked forest path to the summit cross.
  • The descent is on a steep forest path (marked) down to the Wittgruberhof. From there, we follow the marked forest path uphill again, which leads us to the crossroads we passed on the way up.
  • From there, we take the same path back down to the "die Hand" parking lot
