Power Places - Cycling tour, Passail

Many crosses, small chapels and beautiful rest areas around Passail in the Almenland Nature Park invite you to rest and recharge your batteries. But this bike tour is also rich in beautiful views.

A place of power is where people turn to the earth in a healing way.

There are an abundance of wayside crosses, wayside shrines and small chapels around Passail. Wayside crosses and wayside shrines were often erected out of gratitude for averted misfortune or as a meditative center in a town center. They often mark crossroads and should remind travelers that God's blessing is needed for a safe return home.

Chapels, on the other hand, were often built in "power places", places from which a special energy emanates. A beautiful example of this is the Lindenberg Church of St. Anna, which is located just outside Passail on a hill with a beautiful view. Medicinal springs were also the reason for the construction of a chapel, such as: B. at Maria Kleinheilbrunn or Ulrichsbrunn, whose water is said to have special healing powers for eye problems.

This cycle tour, which leads around Passail, combines a wealth of these so-called power places. Lots of beautiful views and nice rest areas are also included in the route, which is driven exclusively on asphalt.

Due to the altitude, an e-bike is recommended for this tour, but a mountain bike is not required.

Impulses for reflection and enjoyment of the power places along the way:

Stay in each place of power for as long as you want and let your thoughts calm down. Take the time, because this time is only yours!

Lindenberg: The power of the tree

"The tree is a special being of unlimited kindness and affection, which makes no demands and generously passes on the products of its life's work." (Buddha)

The powerful linden trees here say: Hug me, lean your back on me and feel the power of my roots, my trunk, my crown, my wholeness. Take a seat in my shade and enjoy the view.

Marterl Kriechenlee: Power of breathing

"In its innermost essence, breath is the brother of the spirit." (John O'Donohue)

Take the time to feel your breath in this place of power. Close your eyes and think: With every inhale I become calmer and with every exhale my inner tension escapes. Repeat the exercise for as long as you want.

Kleinheilbrunn: The power of spirituality

"Spirituality is living from the spirit." (Anselm Green)

Your spiritual path, your journey to yourself, is an ongoing process. Don't wait, but always listen carefully to your inner voice. The Kleinheilbrunn pilgrimage church invites you to find silence and ask yourself: How do I live my spirituality in my everyday life? Am I living the life I want? Am I the person I want to be for myself and others?
Jakobi Chapel: The power of silence

"Only when the silence surrounds you do you discover your inner world." (Erich Limpach)

Try to be still in this place of power by the water and listen to the powerful sounds around you.

Burgstaller Höhe rest area: The power of beauty

"The beauty is there, you just have to open your eyes to see it." (unknown)

Stand up, close your eyes and make a quarter turn with your body. Now open your eyes, what do you see? Now close your eyes again and repeat the exercise. Repeat this until you are back at the starting point and be amazed: there is so much beauty around you!

Ulrichsbrunn: The power of inner peace

"The foundation of happiness is inner peace." (Ernst Ferstl)

To find inner peace, you must learn to accept the past. This includes forgiving people who have hurt or disappointed you. Forgive yourself, your own vulnerabilities and the disappointments in your life. If you want, think about someone who hurt you, hug them and forgive them. Or embrace yourself and forgive your weaknesses, this will make you stronger and happier.

Marterl in Ankenhofen: The power of the heart

“Come out of my heart and seek joy!” (Paul Gerhardt)

Now try to be fully in the moment, open the door of your heart and ask: What does my heart desire? What is my deepest heart's desire? Look at the beauty of nature around you, let your heart speak and find joy.

Chapel in Hart: The power of laughter

"A day without a smile is a lost day." (Charlie Chaplin)

Laughter is contagious! If you smile at those around you, they will smile back at you. So don't forget to smile again today - it's completely free!

Oasis of well-being in Passail: The power of water

"Get to know the water properly and it will be a reliable friend to you." (Sebastian Kneipp)

Consciously end the tour along the places of power here in the oasis of well-being. Feel the cleansing power of the water, take a sip from the Grander water spring, refresh yourself in the water mist and trace the places of power. Which place of power was particularly good for me? Where do I want to go again? Was I able to enjoy nature?

  • At the small chapel we keep left and drive across the golf course up to Fladnitzerstrasse.
  • We turn right here and ride along the cycle path towards Passail.
  • Shortly before the town center we turn right down into Gartengasse and drive to the main road.
  • We turn left and drive parallel to the main road up to Kirchengasse. Here on the left is the access to the oasis of well-being with the opportunity to relax in the spray mist in the grotto or in the garden with the Grander spring water.
  • We come back up to the parking deck, our starting point, via Kirchengasse.

A stop at the Bachwirt in Wölling, i.e. at the end of the tour, should definitely be planned. Our recommendation for those with a sweet tooth is the "Bachwirt-Schnitte"!
