Grubbründlweg, Puch bei Weiz

This circular trail takes us from the heart of the Styrian Apple Road- the apple village of Puch to the Grubbründl Chapel, on to Anger and back to the starting point in Puch.
A truly fruity road winds for 25 km from hill to hill through the idyllic landscape of eastern Styria, linking orchards with inns and direct marketers.A journey to paradise,... is how the well-known local poet Peter Rossegger described his trip to Puch in his day. Every year in spring, millions of delicate pink blossoms adorn the fruit trees along the Apple Road, lending an extraordinary charm to the magnificent landscape. Then, in autumn, Austria's orchard is ready for the harvest. The colorful landscape and delicious fruits are waiting to be tasted.

To Google Maps for the calculation of the journey.

We start this hike at the municipal office in Puch bei Weiz and walk along the marked hiking trail no. 6 in the direction of the Puch elementary and secondary school and on to the Singerberg.

Always following trail no. 6, we reach a bridge, after which we turn right and continue through the forest. After leaving the forest, we turn right in the direction of Ilzbergsiedlung - Dorf Hohenilz and walk from here to Ferienhaus Binder.

We now walk downhill a little on a forest path and come to a small stream. Continue to the road bridge, cross underneath and reach the viaduct. Continue in the direction of Grub and finally we arrive at Grubbründl Chapel.

Time for a rest and perhaps a short prayer at the chapel in the shady forest.

From the chapel we now head towards Hart-Puch, Oberfeistritz and then to Anger. Here it would be time for a rest again. At the parish church in Anger, we can enjoy the sounds of the organ and the ringing of the bells using the Audiguide.

Now we return to the starting point in Puch. From Anger, we follow the markings of the R8 cycle path to Unterfeistritz to the "Kulmmühle" mill, where we turn right and after a small climb come to the Gössl fruit warehouse (next to the former "Feldseppl" inn). Now we can already see the parish church of Puch again and return to the apple village of Puch.

  • We recommend:

The silence invites you to a short devotion in the shady forest
