High above Maierhofen lies the Thaller family's wine castle, surrounded by vineyards and blossoming gardens. As a typical family business, the Thaller's live, work and think in generations. More than 40 years ago, the foundations were laid here for the vinification of outstanding wines, laying the foundations for continuous, quality-orientated development. A place of encounter was born and today is a symbiosis between people, nature and enjoyment, creating joy in life and allowing unique moments to be experienced together. THE WINEYARD
Noble vines have always been rooted here in the womb of the earth! The family cultivates around 25 hectares of vineyards on gentle hills. The winemaker siblings Katharina and Karl Gregor are responsible for the vineyards. In addition to excellent white wines (30%), it is mainly expressive red wines (70%) that are brought to maturity. The imposing barrel cellar houses around 500 barrique barrels from different vintages, filled mainly with red wines from special years - a stage for enjoyable events - and a living room for the wine until it reaches perfection. In addition to space, red wines need time, which is why Katharina and Karl G. only sell their red wines after five to six years.

THE GREISSLEREI
The Greißlerei is the first docking point on the farm. This is where people meet, immerse themselves in the wines and discover the variety of flavours around Vulkanland. Winemaker Katharina and her Mathias will give you a warm welcome, take you along the path of wine and always have their ears open for an in-depth chat.
THE WINE TAVERN
A place to stop, linger & savour. In a marvellous location, on a ridge with an impressive view of Riegersburg Castle, the Thaller family will spoil you with delicacies from the volcanic region of Styria. Vulcano ham, game specialities, Fink's delicacies, refined cheese specialities from Fromagerie Riegersburg and Arzberger Stollenkäse as well as homemade delicacies accompany the carefully prepared wines! It is not only regionality that is important to the family, but also seasonality.
