Fuxbau Gin-Manufaktur

Buch-Sankt Magdalena

Roman Fuchs and Andreas Bauer are behind Fuxbau Gin. The small manufactory is nestled in the hills of eastern Styria. Inspired by the Styrian forests and their products, their aim is to get 100% natural ingredients into the bottle in an authentic way. Spruce shoots, pine cones, rowan berries, wild blueberries, elderflowers and acacia honey bring a unique and unmistakable flavour to our products. Experience a guided tour of what is probably the smallest distillery in the world and sample the different Fuxbau products such as gin and bitters.

Gin from the Fuxbau

It all started with a city trip by two friends and their shared passion for the trendy drink gin. Back at home, the first attempts with a rotary evaporator were promising. A few years and a lot of tinkering later, the two are now distilling in a 20-litre copper pot still in Sankt Magdalena in the municipality of Buch-St. Magdalena.

The basis of Fuxbau gin is a blend of spruce tops, pine cones, juniper, coriander and angelica root, plus bear's bane, bloodroot and galangal, jasmine, camomile and hibiscus blossom as well as rowan berries, which give the gin a fruity speciality and round off the strong aromas to create a harmonious whole. The special feature here is that the separate distillation and maturation of the individual spice, herb and fruit extracts makes the flavour and aroma of Fuxbau gin very multi-faceted and complex.
