Experience history up close in the museum in the old armory in Bad Radkersburg
At the Museum in the Old Armory in Bad Radkersburg, visitors immerse themselves in the fascinating history of the city across approximately 500 square meters – from the first traces of prehistoric and early historical settlement to its development as today’s spa and tourist destination. In twelve exhibition rooms, key epochs are made experienceable:
The economic and cultural bloom as a trading center and fortress city (late 13th to early 16th century).
The decline in the 17th and 18th centuries due to wars, religious conflicts, and disasters like the plague.
The effects of the two world wars in the 20th century.
The transformation into a significant spa and tourism center.
The centerpiece of the presentation is the art and cultural historical collection of the house, including one of the largest closed guild chest collections in Europe as well as numerous archaeological finds. The staged exhibition makes history tangible and exciting for young and old alike.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, one to two special exhibitions are held annually in the rear part of the building, focusing on current topics or special collection areas.
Tip: A visit to the Museum in the Old Armory can be ideally combined with a city tour through the historic center of Bad Radkersburg.
