The Thermen- & Vulkanland consists of 38 municipalities. Spend a relaxing day at one of the six spas in the Thermen- & Vulkanland, wander through the charming shopping towns, always on the lookout for a great bargain. Celebrate a hole-in-one at one of the renowned golf complexes, browse the numerous wares on offer at the regional farmers’ markets, strike out on foot or by bike to explore the area by yourself, or pay a visit to the numerous gourmet factories and culinary establishments that will certainly surpass expectations.
History enthusiasts also get their money's worth, the Riegersburg, for example, with the town of the same name was considered the strongest fortress of Christendom, numerous archaeological finds testify to a settlement of the castle mountain due to the special protective location already 6000 years ago. In 1182 Bad Radkersburg was mentioned in a document for the first time. At that time the town was still surrounded by two arms of the Mur and thus formed an "island".
Fürstenfeld was also founded around 1170 by Margrave Ottokar IV as a sovereign town to secure the imperial border to the east and as a trading town - impressive remains of the old fortifications still characterize the townscape.
