Stadtpark

Graz

Where nature and city history come together.

In the heart of Graz's old town lies the Stadtpark, one of the city's most popular recreational areas. Established in the 19th century, it now encompasses around 22 hectares and combines botanical diversity with cultural heritage. Amidst ancient trees, winding paths, and flower beds, a green oasis emerges, making history and nature equally tangible.

Among monuments, sculptures, and fountains, including the Franz Josef Monument and the Stadtpark Fountain from the 1873 Vienna World Exhibition, there is much to discover. At the same time, the park serves as a habitat for squirrels, birds, and a variety of rare plant species.

On sunny days, the park reveals its liveliest side: students relax on the lawns, families stroll beneath shady trees, and music lovers gather for small events. The Halle für Kunst Steiermark on the edge of the park complements the walk with contemporary art. Those who wish to take a break can find a spot with a view of the greenery in cafés like Café Promenade.
