Route planner
Procedure of the "Lost Places" tour in Anger:The circular route with start and finish at Anger's main square has a length of about 8 km and a difference in altitude of 400 m and can be done in about 4-5 hours, including the visits. The hiking route is 90% on hiking trails. The starting point is the Steinpaißhaus on Anger's main square, Anger's oldest building (1351). Some time ago an underground passage was discovered, which leads from the Steinpaißhaus to the ruins of Waxenegg. Unfortunately, this is not accessible at the moment, so we take the above-ground hiking trail instead. Before we start the hike, we start with a visit to the museum "Mysthische Unter- und Oberwelten der Region Anger", where we can learn more about the "underworld" of Anger and take a look at one end of the underground tunnel. Then the walk starts at the Erzherzog Johann Stiege behind the hairdresser's store Nenas Haarzauber. The following stops are along the way: Welcome drink at the "Musibankerl" with a beautiful view of Anger: the Musibankerl has a tradition of over a hundred years (since 1901). Every Easter Sunday, the Angerer Musikkapelle plays the wake-up call here at 4 a.m. accompanied by the church bells. The trail continues towards the Waxenegg ruins, which are visible for the first time on the way through a natural window. It goes over the Bergerlweg through the picturesque Bürgerwald.Further on, the hike leads to the Rauchstubenhaus in Edelschachen. This smokehouse was first mentioned in a document in 1450 and can be visited as a local history museum. The chef personally prepares the famous "Häfennigl" at the open hearth. After a short rest we continue to the ruins of Waxenegg with its impressive mystical scenery. We continue along the Zetzbach to the Floriani waterfall, which impresses with its natural diversity. Here it almost seems as if you had entered a primeval forest in the middle of eastern Styria. We continue to a water ram, which has provided water for an old homestead for over 150 years. After a good 4-5 hours we then reach the starting point in Anger again.
