Pöllau - Teichalm

This challenging tour leads from Pöllau in the Pöllau Valley Nature Park via Stubenberg, Anger, Heilbrunn to the Teichalm in the Almenland Nature Park and via Gasen, Birkfeld back to the Pöllau Valley Nature Park.

Pöllau

The Pöllau Valley Nature Park is located in the heart of Eastern Styria, the garden of Austria, approx. 60 km north-east of Graz and approx. 150 km south of Vienna

By car from Vienna
If you are driving from Vienna to Pöllau bei Hartberg, take the A2 towards Graz and drive about 110 kilometres until you reach the Hartberg exit. From there, follow the B54 in the direction of Pöllau.

By car from Graz
To get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Graz, take the A2 motorway in the direction of Vienna. After about 30 kilometres, take the Gleisdorf West exit and then take the B54 towards Hartberg/Pöllau. Follow the B54 for about 25 kilometres until you reach Pöllau.

By car from Salzburg
To get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Salzburg, take the A1 motorway towards Vienna. Drive about 110 kilometres to exit 109 (Salzburg junction). There change to the A9 motorway in the direction of Graz. At St. Michael, follow the S6 towards Kapfenberg. Continue on the S6 until the Krieglach exit. From there, take the B72 and then the L405 to Pöllau.

We start in the Schlosspark Pöllau, turn right onto Julius Meinl Straße.
Then turn right onto the L432 towards the end of the village / cemetery.
After the cemetery we turn left onto Hinterggweg, Hinterggweg then becomes Zeilerweg, Zeilerweg then becomes Mittelzeilweg, after a while we turn right onto an intermediate section until we turn right again onto Sauriegelweg and reach Stubenberg am See.
We ride through the village until we come to the Rabenwaldstraße L432 and then continue on the L409 Feistritzklammstraße in the direction of Lebing and in Oberfeistritz we take the Alte Stubenbergstraße and the Alte Landesstraße Oberfeistritz to the main square in Anger.
We then continue along Birkfelderstraße to the B72, turn right and continue until we turn right onto the L353 Heilbrunnerstraße in Steg and continue to Heilbrunn and Brandlucken.
We then continue on the L355 to the Sommeralm, then continue until we turn right onto the L320 Teichalmstraße and come to the Teichalm in the Almenland Nature Park.
We continue on the L320 Teichalmstraße until we turn right onto the L104 Breitenauerstraße, drive over Straßegg and on to Gasen.
In Gasen we continue on the L104 via Haslau to Birkfeld in Kaiserfeldgasse.
Cross the town center of Birkfeld and turn off in Gschaid near Birkfeld onto the L448 Gschaiderstraße in the direction of Pöllau.
We reach the Gschaidsattel and then continue to Obersaifen, where we turn right again, past the Gruber natural bathing pond and the Karner pond back onto Julius Meinl Straße to reach Pöllau Castle Park.
