The Lions Club Hartberg, the Lions Club Thermenland, the Lions Club Veste Riegersburg, and the city parish of Friedberg are organizing five New Year's concerts in January 2026 in Bad Waltersdorf, Ottendorf, Friedberg, and Hartberg.
The orchestra was founded by the music school director and musical director Prof. MMag. Alois Lugitsch, a Lions member himself, in May 2013. 27 musicians from all over Styria, some of whom perform in renowned orchestras in Graz and Vienna, form the core of this ensemble.
In addition to world-famous compositions from the Strauss dynasty, the orchestra will perform works of Viennese classical music, opera, and operetta literature. At the New Year's concert 2026, you will hear works by G. Rossini, W. A. Mozart, C. Stamitz, E. Kalmann, Johann, Josef, and Eduard Strauss, among others.
As soloists, Heinz Steinbauer (clarinet) and Christine Lugitsch-Strasser (bassoon) will present a concert by C. Stamitz. Veronika Kaiser (soprano) from Vienna will sing opera and operetta arias by W. A. Mozart, G. Rossini, E. Kalmann, and J. Strauss. Look forward to a diverse and lively concert with works such as the overture to the opera "La Cenerentola," "Freut euch des Lebens" waltz, "Indigo Quadrille," "Nachtigall Polka," "Jokey Polka," and many more.
