Arrival

Mountain bike routes to the Steinplan refuge:

  • from Knittelfeld-Gobernitz, forest road, 13 km, 1,050 vertical meters, difficult
  • from Kleinlobming - Hintertal, 12.5 km, 910 vertical meters, medium difficulty
  • from Rachau, 16 km, 1,010 vertical meters, difficult

"Brandwaldsteig" - single trail - for cyclists only, helmet compulsory!!!

Freeride trail in the town of Knittelfeld, freely accessible. A beautiful trail that requires some downhill-oriented frame geometry. Steeper in the lower section and muddy after precipitation.

Entry: 1,253 m, exit: 816 m, route length 3 km.

Access to the Steinplan shelter (all marked trails):

  • from Knittelfeld-Gobernitz - forest road up to approx. 1,500 m above sea level - approx. ¾ hours (trail 522)
  • from Knittelfeld-Gobernitz (Gh. Neumann) - approx. 4 hours (trail 522)
  • from Knittelfeld-Landschach (Gh. Hoffelner) - approx. 3½ hours (path 502)
  • from Kleinlobming - asphalted road to the Oberkamper farmstead - approx. 1¼ hours (trail 525)
  • from Rachau near Knittelfeld (forest road to Augerl) - approx. 2½ hours (trail 525/502)
  • from the Oskar Schauerhaus (Sattelhaus) - approx. 2 to 2½ hours (trail 505/502)
  • from the Gaberlhaus - approx. 3 to 3½ hours (trail 505/502)

Marked high-altitude trails:

  • to the Turneralm - approx. 1 hour (trail 502) to the Gaberlhaus 1,547 m - approx. 3 to 3½ hours (trail 502/505)
  • to the Oskar Schauer Haus (Sattelhaus) 1,394 m - approx. 2 to 2½ hours (trail 502/505)
