More information

The journey to Tauplitz is best planned with google.at/maps. From there you can reach the high plateau with the 4-seater chairlift.

By car, you can get to the Tauplitzalm from Bad Mitterndorf via the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road (toll).

You walk from the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm in the direction of Hollhaus. In front of the Hollhaus, a gravel path leads west in the direction of Lawinenstein. After going around the Krallersee lake, continue walking east past the Hotel Hierzegger. Stay on the asphalt road and hike across the high plateau past the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift in the direction of Steirersee.

Near the mountain station is a small mountain church. The church's striking gable shape is comparable to a mountain.

Shortly before the Steirersee, the path branches off to the left to the Steirerseebankerl. It is worth taking a break here, because the view of the legendary Sturzhahn, which mountaineering icon Heinrich Harrer first climbed, is magnificent.

If you like, you can walk down to the Steirerseehütten to fortify yourself with a good alpine snack.

Back to the starting point is then again the same way over the plateau.

If you enjoy the good alpine air, you'll work up an appetite - on the Tauplitzalm there are several places to stop for refreshments with Styrian hospitality.

From Tauplitz train station, the valley station of the 4-seater chairlift can be reached in about 20 minutes on foot. The bus stop is located directly at the valley station.
