The story is based on the narrative "The Changeling," in which Christine Lavant describes the fate of Zitha, an marginalized and misunderstood girl from the Lavant Valley in Carinthia. The narrative profoundly addresses exclusion, superstition, and human suffering in a rural setting while also reflecting the historical challenges of that time.
Direction and performance have been taken over by Christian Elgner and Sigrid Sattler, who bring to life the timeless parable of being different and social exclusion with great intensity.
