More information

Take the B114 to Hohentauern and turn off onto Neue Tauernstraße towards Pfahlbaudorf before entering the village. Continue on Edelrautestraße to the toll station. Follow this road to the Edelrautehütte parking lot
From the parking lot below the Edelrautehütte, follow the signs to Ochsenkarhütte Gefrorener See. The path leads through a short section of forest across a large alpine pasture. Then follows a somewhat steeper ascent to the lake via a clearly visible hiking trail. Return via the same path.
Why is the lake called that? Quite simply because it has at least a small layer of ice for a long time, even in summer. But don't just be impressed by this special feature. From the end of June to mid-July, the Almraus in this area glows in bright shades of pink and pink.
This tour is NOT considered "accessible by train and bus" because there is no regular connection.
