More information

It is best to plan your journey to Bad Aussee using google.at/maps
The stage "BergeSeen 6" starts at the tourist office in Bad Aussee and leads about 900 meters uphill the Ischler Straße, crosses the Salzkammergut Bundesstraße, to lead on the Wilhelm-Kienzl Straße after another 200 meters turning right onto the Teichstrasse directly to the Narzissenhotel.

From the Narzissenhotel, drive up to the B145 and turn left for 300 meters, then turn left again into Fischgasse. Follow the Fischgasse until you reach the crossroads Sommersbergseestraße, where you turn straight ahead. After 500 meters you leave the asphalt road before it disappears into the forest, turn left at 90 degrees and then continue on gravel for 300 meters to the next junction. Turn left and after another 200 meters turn left again and follow the signs S800 through the Sarstein forest.

Straight ahead the trail continues until you come out of the forest and shortly after you pass a farmstead on the left. At Stapflweg straight ahead you turn right into Sarsteinstraße and leave it after about 900 meters to the left into the rustic Austegweg. The Austegweg is an easy trail, which shortly after becomes a bit wider and after about a kilometer leads over the Koppentraun. Upstream along the Koppentraun you come to the Koppentalstraße and after about 1.9 kilometers you reach the Bad Aussee train station.

Continue straight on across the Kainischtraun and turn right at the first opportunity into Sießreithstraße, which you follow for one kilometer.

Before reaching the B145, turn right across the Kainischtraun to follow the cycle path along the Koppenalmstraße to the left after the bridge. After 1.3 kilometers, it's again a left-right hook across the river and continue on the bike path upstream towards Bad Mitterndorf.

Shortly after the fish ponds, which are passed on the left side, the path turns right in the direction of Ödensee. Here you have the possibility to shorten the route. Follow the Ödensee road for two kilometers on asphalt to the Kohlröserlhütte. Follow the signs around the lake. After about 1.6 kilometers continue straight on into the Alte Ödenseestraße, which is left at the first opportunity after 500 meters to the right. The forest road leads uphill, after 700 meters a sharp right turn is made. Now it goes quietly through the forest and after about 6.8 kilometers there is the possibility to turn left to the Steinitzenalm for a refreshment stop or to continue three kilometers straight along the Almgrabenstraße to the end of the forest.

In Bad Mitterndorf follow the signs for the S800, this leads to the right into the town center. Below the church, turn left onto the Kochalmweg. After about 4.9 kilometers the asphalt road ends and you change to a gravel path. After another 3.9 kilometers you cross the Salza river. After about 1.4 kilometers you will see the Salza Almen on your right. Continue to the highest point of the tour at 1,205 meters. 46 kilometers have already been covered.

Now we continue on a brisk descent to Grundlsee. Always watch out for the signs "S800BergeSeen 6".Watch out for the barrier before the exit onto Gösslweg, into which you turn right.

From now on you drive on asphalt along the Grundlsee for about 7.6 kilometers. After the Seehotel Grundlsee turn right uphill onto the cycle path, which leads directly to Altaussee.

Many small bathing places at the Grundlsee and a side trip to the Toplitzsee will prove to be worthwhile.
