The ride to Seewiese is a special riding experience in the Ausseerland region and leads through quiet forest paths with fantastic views of Lake Altaussee and the surrounding mountains. This trail combines experiencing nature with horses and the joy of a scenic route with the opportunity to enjoy a delightful stop at a real place of power.
The ride starts at the former Scheichlmühle inn. From there, the trail leads a short distance towards Lake Altaussee before turning right uphill onto the second road. Passing charming houses, the trail leads to a small hill before passing a villa with turrets. It then descends to the access road at Bartlhof. On the left, a well-maintained forest road branches off towards Seewiese.
On this route, the ride runs slightly above the lake and offers impressive views back to the Tressenstein and further out to the Dachstein massif. Ignore all turnoffs along the way. Soon a rough road appears, leading down to the Seewiese on the left. There, a cozy snack bar invites you to take a break, and the adjacent nature house vividly depicts life in the water. Unfortunately, for legal reasons, it is not possible to ride directly around Lake Altaussee. The return trip follows the same route.
This route is ideal for trail riding and is also suitable for riding holidays with your own horse. The easily accessible trails and unique panoramic views make this ride a real highlight for anyone who wants to experience freedom on horseback.
