This
magnificent circular hike in Ausseerland offers everything a hiker's heart desires: tranquil alpine meadows, idyllic lakes, impressive panoramic views and rustic refreshment stops. From the
Sagtümpel pond, the trail leads over the “
Riesen” to the
Tauplitzalm, on to the
Schwarzensee lake and finally down into the Gnanitztal valley with its alpine huts.
The starting point is the
Sagtümpel. From here, trail no. 216 leads over the so-called “Riesen” up to the Tauplitzalm. Impressive views await after the ascent. Once you reach the
Schwarzensee lake, the trail leads eastwards over gentle alpine pastures to the Leistalm.
From the
Leistalm, continue on trail no. 218/209A through sparse larch forest to a flat ridge. The path then descends to a plateau, through a small, romantic valley to the alpine pastures of the
Interhütten Alm. Heading east, the route leads directly to the alpine huts.
Behind the huts, the path continues eastwards, past a fountain, into a small depression. Here, trail no. 218/209A turns left into the Nattern Graben. After crossing the Grimmingbach stream, you reach a fork in the path. While one path leads to the Hochmölbinghütte, this tour turns off out of the valley towards the Gnanitzalm.
At the
Gnanitzalm, the
Johnsleitnerhütte and the
Hechlhütte invite you to take a break with a regional alpine snack. From here, the return route is a leisurely walk back to the starting point at the Sagtümpel pond.
