This easy hike in Ausseerland offers everything that makes a hiker's heart beat faster: an easily accessible summit, an unforgettable panorama of hundreds of mountain peaks and the feeling of boundless freedom. The Schneiderkogel rises to 1,765 meters and can be reached by the whole family with little effort.
The starting point is the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift on the Tauplitzalm. From there, the trail heads west, past the Hotel Hierzegger. The ascent is via the western side of the Schneiderkogel, always with a magnificent view over the plateau. The path is easy to follow and is perfect as an introductory summit for children or less experienced hikers.
A dream view awaits at the summit: the Grimming, which towers over the Enns Valley, the impressive Dachstein massif, the rugged rock formations of the Totes Gebirge and the sun-drenched lake plateau of the Tauplitzalm with its six glistening mountain lakes.
The descent is on the east side via the piste back to the mountain station.
