The Traun, the river of the Salzkammergut has its origin at the Kammersee in the village of Gößl - municipality of Grundlsee.
By boat (Plätte) across the Toplitzsee you reach, after a short walk the Kammersee. The spring comes out of a rock face below Mount Elm. This then flows on the south bank of the wall into the Kammersee. Hence the origin of the Traun.
The further way of the Grundlseer-Traun leads to Bad Aussee. In the spa park near the Mercedes star, the Altausseer Traun and the Kainischertraun join it. This river is now called Koppentraun after the merger in Bad Aussee, after the Koppental valley of the same name. The Koppentraun flows into Lake Hallstättersee in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut.
May to October (no boat traffic in case of bad weather!)
