Monument Day 2024

Bernstein im Burgenland

Amber castle is rich in history. The oldest stone walls of the castle date back to the 12th century. For a long time the castle was used for the protection of the population. In the 12th century the defensive fortifications became obsolete due to technical progress and so they were transformed into a natural rock garden, which is thus the oldest of its kind in Burgenland.

After the approx. 15-minute short tours, there will be the opportunity for coffee, cake or a glass of wine in the ballroom of the castle, which is otherwise not open to the public. This is an opportunity to take in the wonderful stucco work and experience the monument that is Bernstein Castle.

Guided tours at 13:00/14:00/15:00/16:00, meeting point at the outer castle gate.
