In the Graz villa district, along Schubertstraße, there is a remarkable architectural work that impressively showcases the connection between nature and technology. The greenhouses by Volker Giencke, which opened in 1995, are characterized by their slanted, parabolic structure made of acrylic glass. Three cylinders intersect each other, providing space for plants from four different climatic zones.

The greenhouses are a true paradise for plant lovers. In the tropical house, orchids and mangrove plants thrive, while the cold house features Mediterranean plants such as citrus trees and eucalyptus. The temperature house displays South American and Australian plants, and in the succulent house, cacti and other drought-resistant plants grow.

One can experience the different climatic zones on wooden walkways and bridges that traverse the impressive greenhouses. With innovative architecture and thoughtful climatic regulation – from an integrated hot water heating system to a subtle cooling system – the visit becomes a journey through vegetation and a fascinating architectural experience.
