The Hexensteig is an alpine ridge trail with via ferrata sections that runs directly between Natterriegel and Hexenturm. As an exciting alternative to the normal route through the Rosskar, it offers breathtaking views, varied rock formations, and an alpine atmosphere—ideal for sure-footed mountaineers looking for a little adventure.
The Hexensteig (difficulty B/C) is a marked, partially secured route that leads from the Admonterhaus over the ridge to the Rosskarscharte and on to the Hexenturm. The tour combines walking terrain with short climbing sections (up to II+), which are made easier by steel cables. The ridge route is particularly attractive, offering spectacular views of the Bärenkar and the surrounding peaks. Those who still have the strength and desire can reach the summit of the Hexenturm (2,172 m) in a few minutes from the exit point – a rewarding conclusion with panoramic views. Total walking time: approx. 3 hours.

Over a steep rock edge (B, then I-), we reach a grassy ridge, which we follow slightly leftward to the foot of the tower structure. On the south side, we ascend via a ramp (A), climb down briefly (A/B), and reach the climbing log. The key section (B/C) leads us into a striking gorge, from which we ascend about 60 meters over stepped terrain (A to B) to the tower gap. Then we keep slightly to the right over the ridge and follow an easy rock ridge (I-) to the Rosskarscharte, where we join the normal route.
