Kaiserau in the winter

On the Kaiserau, you won't miss anything in terms of winter technology. Whether skiing, cross-country skiing or walking around - the high plateau is perfect for sticking your cold nose into the fresh winter air. The beautifully situated high plateau in winter: There you can go classic cross-country skiing and skating on the approximately 6 km long high-altitude trail, or get off at the parking lot and slip into your ski boots. For there are two T-bar lifts, a platter lift and two magic carpets for the little ones. If you are still shaky on the boards that mean the world of skiing or snowboarding, the best thing to do is to knock on the door of the Gesäuse Ski School, the only ski school in the Gesäuse. By the way, there is also equipment to borrow.

winter experiences

Or just take a walk on the Kaiserau and look around for all kinds of winter wonders. Or simply unwind. Unless, of course, you grab a toboggan and take off after a one-hour walk to the Klinke Hut, which is open all year round, for sledding ( Toboggan) rental included at the hut. Then it's time to fill up on adrenaline - the soul comes later. A ski tour is always an option, of course, as the Kaiserau parking lot in particular is a popular starting point.

eat & sleep

They are rustic and outspoken, the Gesäuse inns.  And "regional" is not a code word in the Gesäuse, but a duty. In their backpacks they have a selection of Styrian classics to delight the palate. The traditional preparation awakens a thousand and one memories and, on balance, simply makes you blissful.

And restful sleep is possible in the Gesäuse anyway. Hotels, guesthouses, huts and campsites are scattered all over the Gesäuse. Everyone is sure to find a comfortable bed for the night. That's a promise!
