Animal tense "The fatter the badger and birds are, the colder the Christ child will come." While country wisdom of this kind has long since been considered obsolete elsewhere, in Wildalpen the appearance of badgers and birds is still closely scrutinised during Advent. After all, it is only two days after Christmas when the Wildalpen ski lift opens its doors and it is once again time to put on your ski boots and head down the slope.
Two skis, two lifts and the whole family
The Winterhöh ski lifts are absolutely family-friendly. While the small platter lift ensures that the future ski elite can prepare for steeper descents, the longer T-bar lift transports a motley assortment of skiers and snowboarders to the wintry Höh. The view of the snow-covered peaks is breathtaking, making winter fun perfect. With a total of one and a half kilometres of pistes, the Winterhöh is not exactly one of the largest, but if you want to avoid long queues and artificially snow-covered pistes, this is exactly the right place.
Take a deep breath in peace
Not only Wildalpen and the entire surrounding area look forward to the season opening on 26 December. The ski lift on the Winterhöh is a real insider tip among winter-loving families. Perhaps because the village lies on one of Austria's most beautiful rivers, the Salza. Maybe also because there is a very special sauna right on the edge of the forest, which you can rent privately for yourself and your family after your winter walk. But definitely because nature is still intact here in Wildalpen. The air, the forest, rare animal and plant species, here in Wildalpen you can breathe deeply in peace.
