The stylish Buchsteinhaus is reached from Gstatterboden by walking through serpentines and a beech forest. After two and a half hours you are already at the hut and can sit back in the sun or choose from the great mountain menu. Or just: Continue towards the Großer Buchstein.

Fresh cuisine and tired hikers' calves go well together. Regardless of whether you have just taken Route 641 from the Rauchbodenweg or the route from St. Gallen, the terrace of the modern Buchsteinhaus is simply good for you. This hut leaves no mountain wishes unfulfilled and you are sure to continue strengthened. For example, to the many climbing routes on the south face, which cover virtually all levels of difficulty. However, you should never leave without a good portion of alpenglow. Because the view of the Hochtor Group is and remains unique, especially when a kitschy sunset atmosphere settles over the Gesäuse.

Bedtime is at 10 p.m. - that's when the comfortable mattress dormitories are available for everyone. After this mix of exercise, fresh mountain air and good food, you will sleep like heaven.

Detailed information about the journey

From 01.01.2023, a large part of the parking spaces in the Gesäuse National Park, in Johnsbach, on the Buchau and in the Mühlau will be managed.
Gesäuse National Park, Steiermärkische Landesforste, Admont Monastery, the municipality of Admont and the Gesäuse Tourist Association have founded the "Parkverbund Admont-Gesäuse" for this purpose and created a uniform system.
