HWW-Hiking route: Dechantskirchen - Moarhofbauern-Kreuz - Schlagriegel (circular trail)

This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.

This HWW hiking route leads through the center of Dechantskirchen via the Moarhofbauern-Kreuz to Schlag/Thalberg to the Schlagriegel and from there via Thalberg back to Dechantskirchen. Along the HWW route, you pass the Moarhofbauern-Kreuz HWW station, where you can gain an overview of castle construction in Wechselland. You will also learn that a medieval fortification once stood in the vicinity of the Moarhofbauern cross.

Directions - By car

Take the A2 highway to the Pinggau exit.
Take the 3rd exit at the traffic circle.
Continue along the B63.
At the junction, turn onto the B54 in the direction of Graz/Hartberg.
Then turn right in the direction of Dechantskirchen.

The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.

We recommend a visit to the summer theater next to Thalberg Castle. In the unique setting of the open-air theater arena, the Thalburgers delight young and old with a variety of theater and stage performances.
