Grimmingblick/ Tauern Tour - Motorrad/Oldtimer

This tour leads over the Sölkpass over beautiful alpine meadow roads (attention: pasture grids included), along the Enns Valley with a great view of the local mountain Grimming. We will visit the castle Trautenfels as well as the interesting castle Strechau with the Steyr Puch Museum before we go back over the well developed steep Triebener Tauernstrasse. A tip for all mountain road fans.

From the Red Bull Ring, the route leads via Fohnsdorf, Oberzeiring via the ski area Lachtal with the Gellsee to Oberwölz, then on to Schöder and via the rarely opened nature park Sölkpass (1.788m) to Stein am Enns. Here along the main road to Irdning we can take a break at Trautenfels Castle where we have a great view of the Grimming mountain and the picturesque village of Pürgg with its Johanniskapelle. Further on we pass Aigen and Oppenberg to Rottenmann where we can visit the castle Strechau with the great Steyr car museum. Then over the main road to Trieben where we turn off steeply and windingly towards Hohentauern and reach the pass at 1.274m. Through small villages we pass the turnoff to Oberzeiring and reach Pöls and roll back to the Red Bull Ring. There is also the possibility to do a 90-minute ring tour (registration required), which is normally closed to visitors.

Follow the S36 to the exit Zeltweg Ost/Spielberg, turn off in the direction of Red Bull Ring. Follow the signs.

Spielberg - Möderburgg - Oberzeiring - Oberwölz - Schöder - Sölkpass - Stein an der Enns - Irdning - Aigen an der Enns - Oppenberg - Rottenmann - Trieben - Hohentauern - Pöls - Spielberg

In Hohentauern you can take a break, e.g. in the nearby pile-dwelling village or in the health resort Oberzeiring you have the possibility to visit the mining museum.

Opposite there is a good coffee house with homemade ice cream specialties.

The starting point can be reached by train from Knittelfeld and Judenburg and by bus.

Outside the big events there are enough parking possibilities.
