Like the Preber, the Gstoder is a border mountain between Styria and the Salzburger Land.

Due to its location directly opposite the main ridge, particularly comprehensive insights into the southern slope of the Niedere Tauern are possible. The fascinating view as well as a moderate ascent height and low skiing difficulties make the Gstoder a popular and worthwhile tour destination. Nevertheless, this beautiful midwinter ski mountain is still one of the insider tips.

East: From Vienna on the A 2 and S 6 to Leoben and St. Michael i. d. E., continue on the S 36 to Judenburg and on the B 96 to Murau. From Murau via Ranten to Seetal.
West, North: From Bregenz/Innsbruck via the A 12, A 93 and A 8 to Salzburg. From Salzburg on the A 10 to St. Michael im Lungau. From here on the B 96 to Tamsweg and further towards Murau via Sauerfeld to Seetal.
South: From Klagenfurt on the B 83 to Scheifling. Then take the B 96 to Murau and further via Ranten to Seetal.
B96 to Seetal. Between the elementary school and the bridge, turn right /left into a settlement and drive to the foot of the mountain. There the small mountain road turns to the right and begins to climb significantly - and here you will also find a small cleared parking space to the right of the road.

From the elementary school in Seetal on a well-marked and signposted forest road to the Dorferhütte. (Ascent: approx. 900 m above sea level, 2-3 hours).
Descent and ascent or, if conditions are good, from the western ridge directly back to the Dorferhütte and along the forest roads to the starting point.
Easy ski tour with hardly any risk of avalanches, which mainly relies on its scenic charm. The route leads for a long time through the forest, on a forest road, then you reach a very idyllic alpine settlement. Then it goes easily over a beautiful path and over a free ridge to the summit. From a skiing perspective, only the upper half of the tour is interesting, as the descent runs along the forest road at the bottom. Also suitable as a snowshoe tour.
