Pisesweg Circular Route: Murau - St. Georgen/Kreischberg

This leisurely hike promises beautiful views and is recommended for families with children.

From the western end of Murau (near the Red Cross), the route first takes you up the Lärchberg and then on to St. Georgen am Kreischberg. In this village, which has been crowned “Styria's most beautiful flower village” several times, you then cross the Mur River via the Holzeuropabrücke bridge to St. Lorenzen, from where you walk away from the Kreischberg and toward the golf course. Here, the trail winds its way through fields to the 18-hole golf course. Follow the Murradweg trail back to Murau.

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Here turn right in the direction of Murau.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur), drive straight on to Murau.

From the Murau Red Cross, hike about three kilometers up the Lärchberg on a paved road. At the intersection, keep left, where you will soon cross a meadow with grazing cattle. The trail leads through the forest for a short distance before reaching a gravel road, which you follow downhill for about 1.5 km. Continue on the paved road via Edling to St. Georgen am Kreischberg. The return route is via the Murradweg (R2) bike path, past the golf course to Murau.
