As the first Nature Reading Region, the Nature Park Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen invites you to get involved with nature and thus recognize associations and messages of nature that are of immeasurable importance to us humans.
Shaped by the ice age, natural gems can be found here in the form of powerful springs and idyllic pond and marshland landscapes, embedded between the 1,892 m Grebenzen and the 2,396 m Zirbitzkogel. The nature park is among the Austrian model regions for sustainable tourism. The Via Natura, the nature reading hiking trail through the Nature Park Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen, leads to a nature reading garden and to nature reading islands. The attractive and climate-friendly mobility concept with nature park e-bikes, nature park e-automobiles and the nature park hiking bus from and to the hiking starting points is also enjoyed by hikers along the Hiking Route From the Glacier to the Wine, which runs from the Dachstein to wine country.
As a year-round destination, numerous ski tour options are available in the winter on both mountain massifs Zirbitzkogel and Grebenzen. On the Grebenzen, there is a ski area with 25 kilometres of slopes, particularly popular with families, where everyone up to 28 years old receives the ski ticket for the price of a youth ticket! At the foot of the Zirbitzkogel at the Tonnerhütte is a children's and family lift, where you can also toboggan uphill. Cross-country ski runs, snowshoe hiking routes, winter hiking trails and tobogganing runs complete the offer.
Culinary nature park specialities are offered by the nature park keepers, the nature park direct marketers, at the nature park organic farmer's market and in the nature park shops.
