3 Kogel trail (3-Kogel-Weg)
Beautiful hike around the 3 large Kogeln in the Bad Gleichenberg region. Let's enjoy the hilly landscape, which invites you to hike and enjoy!
With this hike we can explore the picturesque region of Bad Gleichenberg. It connects the municipalities of Bad Gleichenberg and Kapfenstein and captivates the hiker with its beauty. Starting from the church in Kapfenstein, this hiking trail connects three prominent volcanic cones: the Kapfensteiner Kogel, the cone-shaped Gleichenberger Kogel and the flat basalt plateau of the Stradner Kogel. The hike offers numerous opportunities to learn about the history of the region (volcanic activity & formation of the spa) or to enjoy an achterl or a snack at one of the Buschenschänken in the region.
The Kogel are typical for the Bad Gleichenberg region in the southeast Styrian hill country.

More information
Starting point Kapfenstein Parish Church: Detailed information on how to get there can be found
here.
We start the hike at the parish church in Kapfenstein, to the Handspur. Via the Handspur we first go down the steep slope of the Tuffschlots towards Bad Gleichenberg and later via Streuobstwieden to the country road. After crossing the road, the trail leads us along small side roads and forest paths, between vineyards and elder plantations to the Gleichenberger Kogel. At the Trassstein quarry we reach the backbone, which leads us south through the woods of the Gleichenberger Kogel, past the Mühlstein quarry to Bad Gleichenberg.
Through the spa gardens and along the Krügeleiweg trail, we continue along the backbone via Steinberg to the Stradner Kogel. After crossing its extensive basalt plateau, we reach the Waltrafelsen. We continue via Jammberg and Jammzeil first to Kölldorf, where we cross the country road at the Buschenschank Fassold and reach the Lutzkapelle chapel. We soon reach Kapfenstein after a short loop at the fish pond. A steep branch path finally leads us to the Kapfenstein municipal office (GeoInfo) and back to the starting point, the parish church!
TIP: Let's take the time and learn a lot in the GeoInfo about the genesis of the region.
A picnic on the way rounds off the hike! Picnic in the vineyard, picnic in the spa park or at the castle - here you will find a suitable offer.
