Out and about on the Semmering Railway World Heritage Site
This tour brings you closer to the Semmering Railway World Heritage Site while you explore the wild and romantic landscape of the Semmering region on a motorbike.
The tour starts in Mürzzuschlag at the Südbahnmuseum. The route now goes via Spital am Semmering to the Semmering and along the high road towards Adlitzgraben. From Schottwien to Gloggnitz, the route leads via Payerbach and Breitenstein to the ‘Kalte Rinne’. The ride over the Preiner Gscheid takes you to the Mürzer Oberland, where you can extend the tour to Altenberg to the mining museum or to Neuberg an der Mürz, depending on your mood. The return journey is on the main road to Mürzzuschlag.

The tour starts in Mürzzuschlag at the Südbahnmuseum. Take the L 118 to Spital am Semmering and continue up the Semmering. After the roundabout, turn half left onto Hochstraße.
Follow the road past the Hotel Panhans and turn left after the Südbahnhotel towards Adlitzgraben - Breitenstein - Schottwien. In Schottwien, turn left towards Gloggnitz, at the roundabout towards Gloggnitz centre. At the next roundabout, head towards Schwarzau/Gebirge and continue on the B 27 to Payerbach. At the traffic lights, turn left over the bridge. Stay on the L4166 and continue via Kreuzberg and Klamm until you reach a T-junction in Adlitzgraben. Keep right here in the direction of Semmering-Breitenstein. In Breitenstein, turn right towards Orthof and ride under the famous ‘Kalte Rinne’ viaduct. At Orthof, turn left towards Reichenau/Rax.
At the next T-junction, turn left towards Prein and then left again towards Prein to Preiner Gscheid. Via Kapellen, turn right towards Altenberg. The B 23 leads back to Mürzzuschlag.
