When the quiet of winter has settled over southern Styria, you might get the impression at first glance that time stands still here. But don't worry - especially in winter there is a lot going on in Southern Styria. In the cellars of the wineries, work continues in the cold months after the harvest, of course, because - the new vintage wants to be created and therefore needs a lot of attention from the winegrowers and their helpers.
WINERY & CELLAR In our vineyards we cultivate 12 different grape varieties with 95% white wine and 5% red wine. We cultivate our vineyards in a conventional way with great respect for nature and wildlife. Quality and careful work is our and our employees' first priority. Site & Soils Our vineyards are mainly south facing and therefore our grapes have the best conditions for perfect sun exposure. Our vines are planted on the Labitschberg and Rosenberg vineyards, whose warm, airy soil consists of deep sandy-loamy deposits with tiny particles of weathered rock. This terroir allows our grapes to form the perfect aroma for our wine. For us, the production of wine is a metamorphosis of - vine, soil, sun, rain and man.
The vinification needs high care. Grapes are selected by hand, berries are gently pressed and the must is slowly fermented. For us it is important to bring the character of the variety, the peculiarity of the soil and the vintage into the wine. The most modern equipped cellar creates the conditions for uniform quality of our wines, which mature in our steel tanks as well as in the 300 year old vaulted cellar in wooden barrels and are bottled at the time of their highest quality.
