Reservoir Soboth - Impression #1

Reservoir Soboth

Eibiswald

The fjord-like mountain lake enchants with its picturesque appearance and pleasant water temperatures. Fed by two streams of the southern Koralpe, the lake, which is over 80 hectares, is very popular. This applies equally to guests of the hiking village and to the population of the region.

The reservoir Soboth was built in the early 90's as a storage lake for the hydroelectric power plant "Koralpe" located in Lavamünd and extends over two provinces. Due to the construction of a fill dam, it looks like a natural mountain lake at 1080m above sea level.

Already during the construction the tourist use was taken into consideration. The lake is also used as a bathing lake in summer, especially on particularly hot days. Today, the guests of the hiking village have access to large, well-maintained sunbathing areas with toilets and bars, jetties for boats, a non-swimmers' area, a caravan camping site, a diving bottle filling station and sufficient parking facilities along the mountain lake.

The lake has been incorporated into the village's trail network. The lakeside road has created walking and running trails, as well as opportunities to walk your dog.

There are two refreshment facilities available, on the one hand the Zwatricks Restaurant - Café - Wein, which is located directly on the dam wall and offers a beautiful view from the terrace over the lake and on the other hand the Tauchtreff, about 1km from the main road in the direction of St. Vinzenz, where, among other things, divers have the opportunity to have their tanks filled.

Furthermore, you can also camp at the reservoir Soboth, information about this can be found at www.eibiswald.gv.at.
