Pfarrkirche Arnfels

Arnfels

The church was built between 1714 and 1734. Prince-Bishop Jakob II Ernest Count of Lichtenstein consecrated this Arnfels Marienkirche "Maria Geburt" on 24 August 1734.

The architect of this late Baroque church, which is 41 metres long and 16 metres wide and has a rather simple vault height of almost 14 metres, is unknown. He realised a more conservative, early baroque architectural concept.

The single-nave parish church consists of a four-bay nave with side chapels and a one-and-a-half-bay priest's choir.

The parish church "Maria Geburt am grünen Waasen" in the market town of Arnfels is a magnificent monument to the late Baroque period, both in terms of architecture and interior design, which harks back to the time of the Reformation at the end of the 16th century and the subsequent Counter-Reformation.
