Educational nature trail for young and old. An own show apiary, the ecosystem meadow, an ant hill, the subject area forest with its plants, trees, the game and the hunt as well as the subject complex water are represented vividly. The open-cast pond as a biotope is a central point along the route. The environmental and nature trail is prepared in a way that is suitable for children, but offers a lot of valuable information that is also interesting for adults.

From the starting point, you march briefly along Seegrabenstraße and then turn across the Sturz in the direction of Lichthalteweg. After about 20 minutes walking time you reach the fork Veitschbergweg and walk from there through the forest. On this path you will find a forest xylophone, barefoot path and a bark guessing game until you reach the Müllerleitenquelle. Return on the Seegrabenstraße, past the Barbara Chapel until you reach the miner's monument again.
Barbara Chapel: In this place there is a crevice in the rock, which was once used as a powder magazine. Around 1860, miners established a chapel in this rock, which was dedicated to St. Barbara. St. Barbara is the patron saint of miners and has been a constant companion of miners for many centuries as an intercessor for mountain blessings and against sudden death. Her traditional memorial day is celebrated on December 4. On September 19, 1991, the Barbara Chapel, rebuilt by many volunteers, was consecrated with a great celebration that documented the deep attachment of the entire population of Leoben to "their Bergau" and the people who live there.
From the center or train station Leoben public buses go in the direction of Proleb or Niklasdorf. Walking distance from the train station to the miner's monument is about 1.2 km/ approx. 16 min. walking time.
