An insider tip awaits you on the witches' trail in Rachau. This is an entertaining, exciting hike through the forest that is suitable for the whole family. Exciting, lovingly designed stations turn the hike into a family experience.
The path to the witches' trail leads from the church in the village along a tarmac road before a steep, very short climb into the forest. The path is well signposted with ‘witch signs’ and is easy to find. Witches‘ huts, tree horoscopes, a forest xylophone and a witches’ gallery provide variety and awaken a thirst for discovery. The crowning glory is a forest marble run. Balls are available, but it is advisable to bring a wooden ball or bouncy ball.

Start at the car park by the church and head west. After a few metres, you will come to a witch's sign that shows you the way past the field and along the road. Continue uphill into the forest. The first station is already waiting here and invites you to rest. Dwarf figures accompany you through the forest and lead you to witches' huts and interactive stations. After the forest ball track, the path leads you downhill again until you are back on the tarmac road. Follow the road to the church car park.
Plan enough time along the way to explore and enjoy the stations. Go to the witches' huts and browse through the herbal textbooks and the tree horoscope. Take a wooden ball or bouncy ball with you for the marble run so that your little ones won't be disappointed if there isn't a ball on site.
