Searching for traces in the Roman Forest, St. Lorenzen am Wechsel

On this hike through the fragrant meadows and colorful forests of the southern Wechsel region, you can enjoy beautiful views of Vorau Abbey, Güssing Castle, nearby Burgenland and the Fischbach Alps.
The landscape around the Wechsel offers views into several "worlds", as far as Slovenia, the Pannonian lowlands and the foothills of the Alps. The burial mounds along the hike are popularly known as "Roman graves" - hence the name "Römerhütte-Römerhof". These burial sites of Roman aristocrats were researched by scientists from Joanneum Graz in the 1980s.
