The hike, easily accessible by train, starts in Mixnitz up to the listed Dragon Cave, home to bats.

Experience a fascinating hike from Mixnitz train station to the legendary dragon cave. The path winds through Mixnitz via the Heubergstüberl (refreshments available) and with a climb up to the dragon's cave. The Dragon Cave can only be visited with a registered tour. You can find the dates for this in summer online on the website. Surefootedness is also required here. Viewpoints, rest areas and two places to stop for refreshments invite you to take a break and take a break on this hike. The way back to the train station takes the same route. An adventure for hiking enthusiasts with impressive views and a bit of thrill.

More information

  • We start at Mixnitz train station and follow the yellow signpost in the direction of the Drachenhöhle (path no. 21).
  • It goes through Mixnitz parallel to the tracks to the Heubergstüberl.
  • Immediately afterwards we reach parking lot 7 “Drachenhöhle”.
  • We leave the asphalt road and turn left onto the hiking trail at the rest area.
  • After a few meters uphill we reach the turnoff to the left to the dragon cave.
  • We follow the marked path; partly steeper sections.
  • The last section before the dragon's cave leads to an insured path; Sure-footedness and a head for heights are absolutely necessary.

The legendary dragon cave can only be visited with a guided tour. You can find the tour dates in summer online.
