The Labonca circuit will take you to the heart of the realm of sun pigs and mountain pinto cattle.
The Labonca circular trail takes you past the historic Burgau moated castle, the children's playground and the Maria Gnadenbrunn pilgrimage church in 60 minutes on foot. The moated castle of Burgau was first mentioned in a document in 1367 and was originally built as a defence tower surrounded by moats. The castle passed from the Hungarian noble family Batthyány into state ownership and has been in the possession of the market town of Burgau since 1871.
An Easter and Christmas exhibition is held in Burgau every year. The cellar of the main castle with its beautiful brick vault, the magnificent banqueting hall and the inner courtyard with its arcaded vault can be used for cultural events, weddings and congresses. Surrounding the moated castle is the castle baths, where things really get going once a year: the legendary Burgau beach festival is known far beyond the borders of the country and has been taking place at the beginning of August since 1933.
The route leads through idyllic woodland to the natural pond and the sunshine pig breeding pasture and the mountain piebald cattle pasture. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet far away from traffic and noise.Speaking of enjoyment, inns, cafés and a wine tavern await you in Burgau.

We start at the main square in Burgau. Signposts on a funny carved wooden pig show us the way. You can pick up a map of the hike in the pavilion next door. The hiking trail now leads past the historic moated castle, the children's playground and up to the Maria Gnadenbrunn pilgrimage church through idyllic Burgau. The beautiful and shady path from the natural pond now leads to the first pasture - the mother pig pasture where many piglets frolic and the mother sows roll around in the mud with relish. A cosy picnic area invites you to linger! And then we continue along semi-shady country lanes past the pastures of the mountain pinto cattle to the piglet garden. Here, too, piglets and large pigs frolic happily. It's fun to watch them! The circular trail is accessible daily.
Plan the walking route so that you can then visit the Easter or Christmas exhibition in the castle's interior.
