Wooden sculpture trail, Nechnitz
Open
On the wooden sculpture trail on the Gschaidberg you will find over 45 different wooden figures by Erich Haider-Harrer, which were carved with love and passion using his chainsaw.
The over 2 kilometer long wooden sculpture trail starts at Alpine farmer Haider on the Nechnitz and leads steeply uphill to the Gschaidberg/Nock. The path leads through the shady forest, past power stations and rest areas. Along the way you will find lovingly designed wooden figurines, from local wild animals to modern cartoon characters. There is also a self-designed chapel and an energy fountain here. Display boards along the way explain about the forest inhabitants and the different tree species. Once you reach the top of the Gschaidberg you will be rewarded with a wonderful 360 degree view. A large board at the summit cross explains the surrounding mountains and peaks. The view extends over the Passailer Kessel with the Schöckel, to the Rote Wand to the alpine landscape of the Teichalm and Sommeralm.
If you would like to extend the path, you can continue hiking to the Teichalm, the Gerlerkogelhütte or the Gerler Cross (path no. 2 or path no. 740 - Gerler-Runde)
